О каком пакете идет речь?
Об этом пакете: cyrconfix. На данный момент в ветке идет обсуждение именно фикса №7 с данным пакетом. И, судя по ссылке, он находится на внешнем сайте, не связанным с OpenSUSE. А логичнее было бы разместить его уже в составе дистрибутива.
З.Ы. Кстати, а что с остальными языками? Мне они не критичны, потому как я знаю русский, ну и "английский со словарём" так сказать, и всё. Сможет данный пакет поправить все квадратики независимо от языка (вангую, что, например, с белорусским, украинским, казахским или любым другим, не относящимся полностью или частично к латинской группе,та же беда)? Или он вносит только частные правки?

После успешного обновления ядра и последующей перезагрузки будет оставаться новое и предыдущее ядро.
з.ы. лишние ядра можно удалить вручную, а нужные оставить
Заменил в совете №6 репозиторий home:/namtrac:/subpixel на home:/Quodex:/subpixel.
Содержимое одинаковое.
з.ы. в home:/namtrac:/subpixel по непонятной причине удалены 32бит пакеты.
UPD:
з.з.ы вернул home:/namtrac:/subpixel на место
После перехода на SUSE столкнулся с проблемой не работы любимого плеера. Решение все таки нашел, но нервы потратил.
Добавьте еще один совет для новичков. Если не работают VLC плеер, то надо просто установить кодеки:

Если во время установки будут выскакивать предупреждения, то в них просто выбираешь первый пункт и продолжаешь установку.
Почему то в родной репе ничего нет - сам VLC есть, а кодеков к нему нема. Да и кстати, сам VLC лучше ставить с официального сайта, предварительно поставив кодеки.

Добавьте еще один совет для новичков. Если не работают VLC плеер, то надо просто установить кодеки:

Лучше или нет, решайте сами. Но videolan + packman одновременно могут дать совершенно неожиданные последствия при обновлении пакетов (на что, собственно, указал verg). У меня таким образом необратимо поломался vlc, причём даже после удаления videolan из списка репозиториев и удаления/повторной установки пакетов из packman лучше не стало (в большинстве случаев при попытке воспроизведения видеофайлов нет изображения, слышен только звук). Результат: пользуюсь umplayer (собственно, очень приятная программа, есть плюс по сравнению с vlc: при открытии файла воспроизведение возобновляется с места, где закрыли в прошлый раз).

Да. Позволит избежать некоторых проблем.
Плюс от него толку, как от козла молока, при имеющемся Packman.
По поводу репозитория /home:/namtrac:/subpixel/ из совета №6.
Там freetype обновлён до версии 2.5.3
Вопрос: Работает ли с этой версией галка в Firefox - "Разрешить веб-сайтам использовать свои шрифты вместо установленных"?
Сам пока не обновлялся.
