Было как-то подобное отсутствовал пакет os-prober.

$ sudo aptitude install os-prober
$ sudo update-grub

Если я правильно понял - у вас груб просто ставит не тот режим. GRUB2: графический режим при загрузке

превосходно все обновляет но проблему не рашает

ранее это меню всегда отображалось, теперь же просто промигует выводит частоты монитора(как я понимаю в этот момент меню grub2 таки работает, т.к. вслепую можно выбрать в нем пункт, но не показует ниче ), держит несколшько секунд и бац, меню входа в ОС.

Как я понял у вас не отображается меню GRUB, так как установлена всего одна ОС. Оно включается в /etc/default/grub

Закомментируйте GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT

Нету меню выбора ОС пр загрузке kubuntu 11.04

Собственно решил обновиться c CD, скачал, установил, и вот....При загрузке сразу попадаю в меню kubuntu.До этого пытался поставить ubuntu c unity - та же проблема.
Гугления ни к чему не привели.
Какие данные надо привести для диагностики?
