Я вот Steam не пробовал, а другие подобные сервисы пробовал.
Ни один нормально не работает так как они все заточены под Ubuntu...
Но если есть желание поиграть, то можно их использовать и на других системах...
Как делал я...

Сначала устанавливаем Steam, Desura и т.д.
После скачиваем игру используя сервис.
И если из коробки не запускается то тут как правило нужно работать с консолью.
Находим исполняемый файл и запускаем его в консоли.
С Desura у меня все работало по следующему алгоритму:
0. Сразу хочу сказать что все эти сервисы 32 битные поэтому нужно для 64х разрядных систем устанавливать 32 битные версии пакетов.
1. Запуск файла в консоли
2. Смотрим на что ругается
3. Скачиваем и устанавливаем недостающие компоненты.
4. Требования к железу для игр так же важны если не хотите слайд шоу, черных экранов и т.д.

далее выбираю в панели задач правой кнопкой закрыть

Окно с заголовком «Counter-Strike Source - OpenGL» не отвечает. Оно принадлежит приложению hl2_linux (PID=32653, имя узла=localhost).
Прервать работу этого приложения и закрыть все его окна? (все несохранённые данные в приложении будут утеряны)

поставил систему на отдельный винт. стим работает, а ксс показывает черный экран и все

нет, черный экран и курсор мышки. в диспетчере задач: hl2-linux CPU 0% RSS 119.1MB память 488,4 MB состояние S приоритет 0
попробую поставить систему на отдельный винт(есть 250Гб) может разбивка винта не подходит?

ничего не поменялось. запускаю контру и только черный экран с курсором. при этом комп работает(не виснет). через алт таб выбираю другие проги -все работают. может переустановить в 12.2 попробовать? кроме opensuse другими линуксами не пользовался. мой друг-линуксоид, познакомивший меня с сусей, уехал на совсем в польшу, и я остался без консультанта. поэтому полез за помощью на форум

Наберите от рута:

nvidia-xconfig

yast2 sysconfig set NO_KMS_IN_INITRD="yes"

Далее прописываем nomodeset в загрузку grub2:
В файле: /etc/default/grub
найти строку:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=""

Прописываем nomodeset:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomodeset"

(остальные параметры через пробел в эти же кавычки"
пример:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset"

Далее: (от рута)

grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg && mkinitrd
