1. Install Programs
First, be root:
$ sudo su

* netpbm     - for image conversion
* sane-utils     - for accessing scanners
* tesseract-ocr    -eng    - for image to text conversion
* apache2 - Webserver

$ apt-get install netpbm sane-utils tesseract-ocr-eng apache2

2. Configure Webserver
Let the webserver access the scanner:
$ adduser www-data scanner

Allow CGI scripts to run
$ echo 'AddHandler cgi-script .cgi' >> /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

Allow CGI scripts to run in /var/www
$ cat /etc/apache2/sites-available/default | sed 's/FollowSymLinks MultiViews/FollowSymLinks MultiViews ExecCGI/g' > /tmp/default
$ mv /tmp/default /etc/apache2/sites-available/default

Restart the webserver for changes to take effect
$ /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

3. Setup Scanner Server
Download and extract this script
$ cd /var/www
$ wget http://scannerserver.online02.com/downl … _1.1.9.tar
$ tar -xvvf scan_*.tar
$ rm scan_*.tar

Leave being root
$ exit

4. Connect to Server
Find your server's IP address with the following command:
$ ifconfig | grep "inet addr:"

Connect to the scan server from any computer on the network by entering "http://SERVERIP/scan" in a web browser window
(so it'd look something like this: http://192.168.1.100/scan )
